Job Description

Job Summary:

The Plant Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of a manufacturing plant. This includes financial reporting, budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and ensuring that all plant-related financial activities comply with company policies and standards. The Plant Controller works closely with plant management to collaborate with plant leadership, procurement, and operations teams to drive financial efficiency and cost-saving initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the plant.
  • Analyze plant performance, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial reports to management, including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Cost Control & Budgeting:
  • Lead the annual budget process for the plant, ensuring alignment with corporate goals.
  • Monitor and control production costs, labor expenses, and overheads to ensure adherence to budget.
  • Evaluate cost structures and provide recommendations to improve cost efficiency.
  • Forecasting & Financial Planning:
  • Develop financial forecasts and work closely with plant leadership to adjust projections based on production volumes and other relevant factors.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly forecasting for various cost elements such as materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Monitor and analyze inventory levels and ensure proper valuation in line with accounting standards.
  • Ensure that all inventory transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Work with the plant operations team to manage stock, raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods efficiently.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all internal financial controls and accounting policies.
  • Assist with audits and internal reviews to ensure accuracy and transparency in financial data.
  • Collaborate with corporate finance to ensure proper adherence to company accounting practices and statutory requirements.
  • Performance Metrics & Reporting:
  • Create and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, cost, and operational performance.
  • Provide management with actionable financial insights based on KPI analysis.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Work with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in financial processes and controls.
  • Implement best practices for financial management and contribute to cost-saving initiatives.
  • Coordinate with the auditors
  • Ensure accurate and timely tax submissions, i ncluding Sales Tax, Property Tax, and Income Tax, in coordination with internal teams and external tax consultants as needed.
  • Lead, plan and direct accounting department staff

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a financial or accounting role, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing or plant environment. Current experience as a plant controller preferred.
  • Team management experience Mandatory.
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, budgeting, and cost control.
  • Experience in ERP systems SAP is a must.
  • Automation of financial processes for increased efficiency.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups, financial modeling).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Certifications:
  • CPA, CMA, or similar certifications are a plus, but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a plant environment with exposure to industrial machinery and equipment.

Work Environment:

  • Full-time position in a plant setting, with occasional travel for meetings or training as required.
