Our US Gas Marketing group is currently looking to add a Gas Trader (South) to the Energy Trading (South) team, based in Houston, TX. Reporting to the Manager, Energy Trading (South), this position will design, develop and implement physical gas strategies that ensure customers receive their reliable energy. Expertise in negotiating gas transactions and analyzing / monetizing market intelligence will be key in creating value in today’s volatile market. Responsibilities include pro-actively contributing to the financial success of the TCEM Gas Trading Team through the identification, execution, and successful management of both Asset-backed & Proprietary Trades; negotiating the purchase and sale of daily, monthly, and seasonal gas positions within the Permian, Eagleford, and Haynesville Basins; supporting the deployment of discretionary VAR across the South region through sophisticated and balanced trading strategies; actively contributing to the development and evolution of deep, broad & proprietary market insights across South region as well as the broader L48; managing both existing and prospective customer relationships to foster liquidity and opportunities; working on implementing liquidity, proper governance, and transaction visibility; managing commodity, transportation and storage positions within company approved limits; optimizing existing & prospective assets / positions to maximize earnings; understanding contractual commitments and scheduling with gas pipelines required; providing input on economic routing alternatives and other supply options; and providing coverage backup for other regional desk. Minimum qualifications include post-secondary education in Marketing, Business, Finance or a related field, 10 years of Gas Trading experience, proven & demonstrable positive PnL history, experience articulating fundamentals driving the current and future natural gas market (Supply/Demand/Infrastructure) and making decisions based on this information, ability to conceptualize & mathematically apply risk / reward proposition to all transaction decisions, demonstrated ability to interact with Pipeline EBB’s, online exchange (ICE) and pipe transportation scheduling systems, proven understanding of Capacity Release bidding and execution, and knowledge of energy contracts like Futures, OTC, Options, shaped contracts, collars, and other derivatives. Preferred qualifications include proprietary knowledge of, and insight into specific tariffs & operations along ANR, TCO and CGT, as well as regional 3rd Party inter & intrastate pipes across TX, OK, LA, MS, AL, GA, FL, the Carolinas & Others, strong financial acumen and ability to conceptualize & articulate risk vs opportunity, and familiarity with NAESB type standard agreements & driving increase access to market liquidity.
